In case you missed the intro post, this blogging journey is all about self-discovery. Everyone around me seems to have “it” all figured out, and put together.
I’m walking around like a sultry hot mess, thinking to myself:
“how do they do it?”
One morning I woke up and said to myself, “Self, you probably aren’t the only one walking around in a daze, faking it, and pretending to have it all figured out. Why not share your hot-mess of a life with everyone else? There’s gotta be people out there who are like you.” From what I am hearing from friends/family/strangers, we are all expected to look like to have it all together, when inside we could be completely lost. Thank goodness.
Here we are. And now this sultry hot mess (me) is figuring out how to really become a little bit more confident in the way life is heading versus the way you want to live your life. In preparation for the launch of this lil’ ol blog, I went back to my daily routines. There are a few things that I’ve done, and continue to do that make each day “count” (even though I have no idea what we are “counting” for…). Even if I stay at home with the baby and am up to my eyeballs in folding laundry, there’s at least a little mantra that keeps me going…
I am a firm believer in the power of positive thinking and thoughts becoming actions and manifesting themselves. I’ve read many a “self-help” book on this topic, and really cannot summarize the reality of your individual day better than this… To all my friends who may come across this post today, trust and believe. One small thought can really change the way you manifest your day. Seriously. Think about it. If you get stuck behind a bus route on your way to work, clearly that’s all you are focusing on during the commute and then all the negative “what ifs” start… (“What if I am late?” “What if the boss finds out I was strolling in 10 minutes late?” “What if I get fired for being late, again?” Damn bus…)
Is it not morning when you read this? That’s okay. Try this mantra tomorrow morning. (If you remember to…) If this is not a morning read (which, why wouldn’t it be? I post at 6:15am EST on post days!) Try this exercise…
…close your eyes and smile for one whole minute. Don’t worry about people thinking you are crazy. (You are, yes, but at the end of the day, it’s us crazy ones who move mountains!) Think of something/someone that makes you smile. For an entire minute. Breathe deep. Smiling. Breathe deep. You’ll notice a difference for sure.
Remember, you are the only one who can manifest your positive energy and make it work for you.
Take it or leave it, but, seriously. We all need to start the day off “right” and I’m not talking just the size of that latte in the morning…(ick, btw, I’m a straight up coffee fan…) why not start the day off easy, carefree and positive? Cause at the end of the day, being a positive person puts you in a better nights’ sleep…at least that’s my personal opinion.
Be positive, yo.
